Matt Valley's Profile -- DJ
I was born in Florida so I could be close to my mother...In 1975 Mom and Dad packed my two older brothers and I up in an old Dodge camper van and drove us from St. Augustine, Florida to North Pole, Alaska!

I became interested in broadcasting in the 4th grade when my teacher taught us to use the camera and video recorder at North Pole Elementary School. By 6th grade I was running the TV cameras at church and for several community issue programs for the NBC affiliate in Fairbanks. In High School I took the Radio & Television course at the King Career Center and made the contacts that eventually led me to get in to Radio.

I started with the overnight weekend shift and worked up to the full-time overnight guy. I then moved on the Mid-days at the Oldies Station and then the night guy at an Oldies Station in Orlando, Florida. In October of 1995 I came back to Anchorage and began the "Matt Valley Commute" on KBEAR 104.1 in the afternoons. In April of 1999 I moved to the morning show with Jim and after 10 years I am now back to my favorite afternoon shift from 2p to 7p!

My wife Yvonne and I married in January of 1989 and had two beautiful children right away. Our kids both graduated from Service High School, our daughter Miranda is in her second year at the University of Alaska, Anchorage and our son Jake starts at UAA this Spring.
