Back To School...
What the parents and kids were really excited about was meeting the teachers. Two of my kids have new teachers, both transferring from other schools. I'll admit, I was a tad bit enthusiastic than my children as I shook their teachers' hands and told them both how excited I...er, I mean WE were about this upcoming year. My son looked away, sorta burying his head in his hands when I started my spill to his teacher about needing her support in this year's PTA. Had she joined PTA yet? If not, I had the forms and some wonderful pamphlets. I did the same with the other new teacher, and well, I talked to many teachers. And parents. Because as the Vice President of our school's PTA, I had a table assigned to recruit new members. It was great fun, because not only did I get to meet a lot of parents and the wonderful new teachers, I got to do what I do best.
Talk.
Towards the end of the picnic, I was still talking and The Husband was walking around aimlessly, sometimes shooting me these glances to show his annoyance. The kids, who were really well behaved in the beginning, started to do weird things, like just lay down on the ground and make gurgling sounds. When The Husband started to do the same thing, I knew it was time to go home. As we were leaving I saw my oldest daughter's third grade teacher. Of course, I had to say hello. It was only the polite thing to do. We started talking, and of course, PTA came up. When we said our goodbyes, I realized The Husband and my children had already started walking home. When we got to the house, The Husband said, "You are like one of those infomercials for the PTA. It's scary."
I told The Husband thank you. Considering I work in advertising, I found that to be a compliment.
I think.
School starts Wednesday for most in Anchorage. From all of us at KBEAR, we wish you a wonderful school year!
